New Health Goals (& Cute Activewear)

It’s that time of year, the kickoff to everyone’s new health goals. For some that may mean killing it in the gym earning a six-pack, and for others that may mean meditating for 20 minutes a day for more mental clarity.

Yet there is nothing better than getting new attire to match whatever goal you have set in front of you (unless it your goal is to save money — whoops)!

Ever since getting sick with SIBO, I have been on track with my health and fitness goals. My goals are just to get and stay in a healthy spot, whether that be my diet, workouts, or mental clarity. Not going to lie, it is really hard when trying to carry out a full-time job, a social life, and participating in my hobbies, but that’s life. We all have to choose what is a priority and what isn’t, and this year, it is my health more than ever.

Some of my health goals for the New Year are:

1. Listen to my body.

I want to stick with my gut (literally). Listen to when I am TRULY hungry, nourish my body with healthy superfoods as much as possible, and stop when I know I am starting to get full. Since recovering from SIBO, I have found it hard to understand what portion sizes I really need, when to eat, and when to indulge in my cravings. This year I want to listen to my body and be more aware when choosing my meals for the day.

2. Workout at least 5-6x week.

This might sound like a lot, but it isn’t in my definition. My definition of working out is just any movement. Whether I decide on a light yoga session, HIIT body conditioning class, or a walk around Lady Bird Lake, I just want to move my body, whichever way that may mean.

3. Cut down on the grocery spending.

Ever since moving to a city that has a Whole Foods and Trader Joes, this is one of my downfalls. I spend SO MUCH on groceries. Like $70-100 A WEEK. What the flipping heck. Back home in good ol’ Montana, I would spend around $100-150 a month. This 2020, we are going to try and get as close as we can back to that.

4. Stop with the screen time.

This sounds contradicting considering I am basing my platform off social media, but, that doesn’t mean I need to revolve my life around it.

For the month of December, I deleted all my social media accounts. It was extremely hard. I found myself binge-watching YouTube and Netflix TV shows instead, which is kinda worse. Since then, I have switched my strategy and I am now trying to get outta the house, start working on my hobbies and get off my hand-held screen altogether. I have now let myself have all my socials back, but with limitations, including the beautiful platforms of YouTube, Netflix, and Hulu.

Cheers to the new year, new goals, and cute workout outfits to keep your butt into gear!
