In the past few months, I’ve had more than enough fun starting my own podcast. I’ve learned SO much from creating it without any help and bringing on various inspirational women to tell their stories. I am more than happy to say that series one has come to a wrap.
As I’ve been spending the last ~ month in Montana, I took the time to really kick back and enjoy my time here. Now I’m back at work, and getting back into the flow of keeping up my side-projects (like this blog and my podcast). Meaning series two is in the works.
To celebrate this season of my life, I wanted to highlight each episode, what you can learn from them, and the thoughts that have stuck with me along the way.
Series 1 recap
Oh, how I am so thankful for this journey. It may not be a big deal for most people, but for me, this was something that has been on my bucket list for a while. Yet, I was SO intimidated to take the time to figure it out. All it took was that one night I got inspired enough to get ‘er done ~ and I am so proud of myself. Below are my favorite takeaways from each poddy episode!
-
The intro
Episode one was recorded super late at night when I got that random spark of inspiration. I hit the ground running on this project, and kept it up. It kept me sane during a time when we were spending more time at home, not to mention everything I learned about marketing in the process.
This was the episode that sparked this amazing journey of learning and creating a platform for inspiring women to share their journey!

Confidence in the workplace w/ Mel
Ugh, episode two with Melanie Lovejoy. Mel has been such a helpful mentor ever since I was in college. I’ve known her since I was in middle school when her younger sister and I became best friends. Once I reached college, I noticed that Mel was doing everything I wanted to ~ so I reached out for guidance.
If you’re new in your career, or around 23 years old, like me, this episode may be perfect for you!
-
Burnout ~ overcoming it
Episode three is where I spilled the beans about my burnout story. If you’ve already tuned into this episode, you may already know; I hit burnout. And hard. I honestly didn’t know how bad it was until I spent a while down in Austin. Even though this wasn’t ideal, I have learned so much from this experience, and I share all my tips and tricks with y’all!
You always learn the most through your own experiences. And, this experience was definitely one I won’t ever forget.
-
Gut health w/ Pandis
If you’ve followed my blog and podcast for a while, you most likely know I’ve dealt with health issues for the past few years. I brought Pandis on for episode four to share her journey, as well as mine, to healing your gut. The gut controls so much more than most people think.
For all my health junkies out there (and those that may think they have gut issues), this episode is for you! Pandis shares it all.
-
Self-care morning routine
My morning routine is my holy grail. Honestly, ever since being in Montana, I’ve been missing my morning routine back in Texas. There’s nothing better than having the perfect morning routine in your own apartment. I LOVE to wake up early and crush my personal and career goals every day. And, that doesn’t always happen when I don’t complete my morning routine.
To hear my morning routine, why I have one, and what steps are the most crucial, tune into episode five.

Finding the career path for you w/ Becky
Ever since graduating and moving to Austin, I feel like what you learned in school doesn’t totally align with the real world. They don’t really teach you about finding the right job, how to make career pivots, or even how to ask for a raise. If you recently graduated and feel like you don’t even know where to start in your career, Becky tells you all her secrets.
Episode six goes over how to find the right career for you, level up your career, ask (and earn) a raise, and so much more.

Why you should set goals (+ how to)
I am a HUGE believer in goal setting. Every month, I write out at least ~4-6 goals I want to work on for the month. That could be with my finances, career, side-hustles, or health and fitness. I write them on a whiteboard that hangs right above my desk so I’m consistently reminded of what I want to get done for the month.
For those that are wanting to set goals each month, and work hard to checking them off, episode seven is for you!
-
Being a full-time food blogger w/ Rachel
Right when I moved to Austin, I was filling my time with networking events to feel more connected and hopefully land a job (which I did)! One of the boss babe events that I went to had a blogger guest speaker ~ Rachel. A few months later, I asked Rachel if she wanted to share her story along with her blogging tips and tricks on Life’s Awkward. Well, she agreed!
Rachel shares what lead her into blogging and becoming the Austinfoodstagram. Not only that, but she shares her tips and tricks for those wanting to do the same in episode eight.
-
Health issues ~ SIBO + leaky gut
The long-awaited health journey update. For those of you who have been following me for a while, as I said above, you know I’ve had some ups and downs with my health in the last few years. I am very thankful that most of these issues aren’t super serious, but they were stopping me from loving and living my life how I wanted to.
If you’ve thought you may have gut health issues, or are on your own health journey, episode nine is perfect. I talk through my whole journey step by step (and how it will continue).
-
How to get your dream company to notice you w/ Lauren
Taking it wayyy back when I went to California for Create & Cultivate right when the pandemic was on the horizon, I met Lauren. I briefly met her while talking to a group of girls at this event and I’m so thankful that I did! During the short period of time I got to talk to her, she told me that she had a podcast where she brings on girls who work in fashion to tell their stories, tips, and tricks ~ I was more than inspired.
A few months later, I asked her to be on my podcast to share her journey in episode ten! She shares her journey to finding her passion, pursuing it, and how to never take “no” for an answer.

Creating + growing a jewelry life off Esty w/ Amanda
Gold jewelry is my absolute FAVORITE. When I first moved to Austin, I fell in love with Amanda Deer’s jewelry line. I actually found her shop when I was visiting Austin and have been a BIG fan ever since. When I am back home, I would say I shop at her store about every ~2-3 months. She has affordable pieces that you just can’t say no to.
For episode eleven, I thought I would bring on Amanda to share her passion story. From starting her jewelry line out of her spare room to growing it into her full-time gig.
I really hope this podcast has sparked as much joy for you as it has for me since being released. I’m more than thankful for all the people that have come on and all of you who I got to inspire (hopefully).
Here’s to series one of the Life’s Awkward. Podcast! 🙂
Until next time,
XXXX – Kayla
